Springfield, MA — Monson Savings Bank donated $5,000 to the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services Food Pantry through the Bank’s Together for Food Security campaign. The contribution will help sustain this community-based support for households throughout Hampden County.

The pantry provides emergency food services for individuals and families experiencing food shortages. Rather than receiving a prepacked bag of food, shoppers can bring their own bags and choose from available meats, dairy products, bakery goods, fruits, vegetables, and shelf-stable items. The organization also partners with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to host mobile food truck distributions.

Currently the Pantry operates from the 3 Rutland Street (Community Center) site in Springfield, Massachusetts in the Mason Square Neighborhood with designated pantry and mobile food truck hours found on the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services website www.mlkjrfamilyservices.org/families/.

“Our partnership with MLK Family Services reflects the values we share and our commitment to helping local families and strengthening our community,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO of Monson Savings Bank. “We are grateful for the opportunity to support their compassionate work and help ensure families have access to nutritious food and meaningful resources when they need them most.”

Through Together for Food Security, Monson Savings Bank is supporting organizations that address food insecurity at different points in the local food system, including neighborhood pantries, mobile markets, food rescue, urban agriculture, and regional distribution. This donation is one of several contributions made through the campaign.

“When families can count on having nutritious food, they have a stronger foundation for their overall health and well-being,” said Shannon Rudder, President and CEO of Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services. “This contribution will help our pantry continue providing reliable, choice-based food assistance and connecting families with additional resources.”
